Week 7/1 MCFL Recap

3 min read

What a weekend of games, and just shocking turn of events for one team, but we will get to that in just a bit.

Power Rankings-for the most part stay the same for the top four teams and the rest of the team’s from 5 and up all get bumped up one spot.

Let’s get to the games..

#1 Bird Gang (4-1) Bye

The Bird Gang had a bye this week and will host the sharks at home on Saturday.

#3 LCW (5-1-1NC) 12 vs #5 Sharks (3-3) 8

Both teams came out to play but mother nature had other plans with rain and crazy weather, but both teams came and played regardless of the weather and LCW came out on top and extends their win streak and stays #2 in their conference. LCW will be on a bye this week as they prepare for the showdown with the Indy Bison the following week. The Sharks have the task of going to the Bird Gang I don’t see that game going their way but I have been wrong, just feel the BG is rolling through and will continue that run.

#3 Indy Bison (5-1) 28 Forefit win

Not many teams want to sit and get a forfeit win, I am sure 9 out of 10 teams would rather get the win by playing the game and the Bison are no exception, unfortunately they had to sit this week but did get the win, it is a win but ultimately it’s a gap in the schedule for that particular team and no team really wants to sit when there was a game that should of been played, however I am sure coach Moore had something for his team to do maybe another practice or something to keep them fresh and ready for the next team which is the Lions this week, as they will make the trip to take on the Lions.

#7 Leyden Lions (3-4) 0vs St Louis Falcons (3-3) 26

The Falcons have gotten on a win streak since the first few weeks of the season and have now on the verge of taking the #2 seed in the South and if they can win out, they will keep that spot and regardless will play the Sharks to see who goes to the conference championship. I am not an expert but with only 3 teams left in the south Bison will get that 1st rd. bye and will go to the conference championship game to face the winner of that game. But we will know more here in a few weeks when the season is over as to what format the playoffs will be.

#9 Bucs (2-4) 28-0 Forefit win

The Bucs get their second win of the season and will get the third this coming week as they were supposed to host the Tigers.

#4 Fort Wayne Tigers (4-1) 6 vs #5 Michigan Hurricanes (3-2-1) 18

The Tigers traveled to Michigan to take on the Hurricanes and could not pull the victory out in the end, and unfortunately will be ceasing operations and will not be finishing the MCFL season out.

It’s very unfortunate that the actions of one player have effects on 39 plus others that have put in work the off season and during the regular season to have it come to an abrupt end. Upon hearing the events that took place after this game last week, I was at a loss for words knowing that the repercussions were going to be massive, for the ones that were involved, teammates and family members, in the end it came down to the only choice that the Tiger’s ownership really had was to cease operations, I know that was the hardest thing to do for coach Q and the other owners and staff of the Fort Wayne Tigers. At the end of the day this is football, and the goal is to go home the same way you arrived at the field, to escalate something to a level of that magnitude is never worth the consequences of losing your family or putting yours’s or another life in jeopardy. It should not go that deep.

I am sure that the players from the Tiger’s will recover and go on and do other things some will come back and play the rest of the season where they can, and others will take the time to reflect and see where they are at by the next season.

That is all for the 7/1 recap.
