Let’s get to it, week 5 recap.

#1 Indy Bison (4-0) vs Racine Raiders (5-0) (GDFL)

We all held our breath this weekend as we knew the mighty Bison would be taking on that ever-historic Racine Raiders out of the GDFL in the bye week, and they were tested the Raiders are the first team all season to do so. The Raiders would score first to go up 7-0 in the first quarter, they would then do it again to make it 14-0 by halftime, the Bison just could not find the grove they have found all season to this point, which is a good thing they were truly tested and show that they are human and can go back to the lab and fix it, and it does not count in the regular season of the MCFL so they are still #1 and 4-0, they do travel this week to Chicago to take on the Bird Gang a match up that will either be a tight game or a score fest or a blowout, both teams have been tested as of late and this could be a preview of the Championship game at the end of the season. This will another game that we will be waiting on for the final score to see where the dust settles.

#2 Bird Gang (4-0-1) 12 vs #6 Hurricanes (2-2-1)

The Bird Gang like the Bison have been kicking their opponents around outscoring them 168-26 until last week when they finally had a challenge vs LCW who held them to 10-0 game even though LCW was on the losing end of the game they showed that the BG can be vulnerable, and apparently the Hurricanes paid attention to that and held them to 14 points and to a tie when the buzzer went off.. This week the BG will finally face the Bison both teams have been at the top since week 1 now only one can come out with the win, after the loss to the Raiders some say the Bison have shown that they are not as big of a powerhouse as they seem to be, but was it better to loose in an exhibition game rather that a regular season game to have time to fix the mistakes and tweak the offense and defense? I think Coach Terry Moore will make sure the team is ready for the trip to take on the Birg Gang. Just know if the Biso loose two in a row the minor league football community in Indiana will lose its mind and go nuts on all spectrums like it’s the end of the world and they are going to cease operations or something, I can assure that won’t be the case no matter what happens, we all know deep down that the Bison are here to stay and are on the path to great things and change the narrative of minor league football. Hurricanes are on a bye week and will host the Ft Wayne Tigers who are on a hot streak since the week 1 loss to the Bison.

#3 LCW (3-1) 24 vs #5 Lions (3-2) 12

LCW has shown in the last few weeks that they a tough team, holding the BG to 10 points and beating the Lions who are no slouches, LCW is looking at going into the halfway through the season at the #2 seed in the North if the playoffs started today that would lock them into week 1 bye at the #2 seed. They are supposed to play the Assassins who will probably not be making that trip again this week as they have cost a few teams money as it is and that is revenue that teams will not recover which is sad, more on that train wreck of a team here in a bit. So, Coach Thompson and the rest of the LCW good luck hope you guys get to play a game this weekend but I am going to say that is a big fat not going to happen, but get some rest enjoy the weekend fellas..

The Lions will travel to Ft Wayne to take on the Ft Wayne Tigers who are on a 3-game win streak and dropped 50 on the Sharks but we will address that here in a bit, since week 2 they have been on a roll since week 2 and will look to continue that streak with addition of some former players now Tigers once again they add some more fire power to the jungle.

#4 Tigers (3-1) 50 vs #7 Sharks (2-2) 0

The only thing I can say about the Sharks, they deserve a lot of credit for showing up and playing four quarters with only 15-16 players, that being said that was about the only positive I seen, I arrived too the game mid first quarter it was 21-0 and the bleeding would not stop, now it is hard to travel with a lot of players but that is on the players who didn’t want to show up, not the ones that had to work or could not make it for real reasons, but the ones that don’t “Travel” etc you let your team down and they got beat, the outcome would of been the same with 14 or 30 players but never the less. Sharks will get an easy win this coming week as they were supposed to play the Thunderhawks we all know what happened to those guys. The Tigers will host the 3-2 Lions at home.

#10 Bucs (1-3-1) 28-0 Forefit

Bucs Win Bucs Win

#9 St Louis Falcons (1-3) 28 vs Indy Assassins (0-4) 0

Well last but not certainly least, this game that was supposed to be fan appreciation Nite for the Falcons home crowd got wasted and turned into a big money pit for the Falcons which is unfortunate for the Falcons and their fans to have planned and put work into this appreciation Nite only to have the Assassins not show up and once again give short notice, I think the Assassins are about to be an afterthought in Indiana as they were already fading last year and got lucky somehow and made a last minute push to get far into the playoffs, but we all knew it would be short lived and I think it’s about time to join the Shockers in the category of “lets not do that again” for Indiana minor league football.

The Falcons look for win #2 this week as they play the struggling Bucs who got the first win of the season last week as well.

I am going to guess that the Assassins won’t be playing this week as they are supposed to be traveling to play LCW and it sucks for the players on that team as I am sure there is some talent, but as we all know bad management over shadows talent every time, and if you choose to be on such a team be it because you can’t be that superstar on other area teams and or even start that is your choice but at the end of the day you are only cheating yourselves and wasting your time and hard earned money.

I don’t usually bash teams and try to look at the positive and have the most respect for the organizations, but in this case the league looks bad, and the organization looks worse, I know the league will have to set an example and enforce some fines or something to show that will not stand for this type of unprofessionalism from the teams in the league. it is almost halfway through the season and a team has played less than half of the first 5 games and has caused other teams to sit consecutive weeks without a game or left trying to find one or even worse in the Falcons case left trying to recoup the cost of wasted money. So, before you waste any more time and money of the teams that want to play be it travel or stay at home either get your stuff together or do us all a favor and cease operations so the players that might have a chance with another team can somewhat salvage their season without it being a total waste of time.

Look for the week 5 recap and my mid-season state of minor league football as well as my updated Indiana rankings not that mine matter but it’s at least something to read…

Until next time be
