Press Box Report

What is going on, I missed the preview for this week, lots of stuff going but nevertheless, the game of the week was Bison vs LCW, and the rest of the games you have Bird Gang kicking the Lions up and down the field, and the Sharks and the Falcons, well more on that later.

#2 Indy Bison (7-1) 23 vs #3 LCW (6-2) 20

This was the most anticipated game of the week maybe even the 2023 season it had all the elements of a back-and-forth battle in the trenches, from ejections to the last second field goal to win the game.

The game would go back-and-forth pretty much the entire first half into the second half, when LCW would get in the end zone first, Bison would fight their way back down the field to tie the game up 6-6 after a ton of penalties at one point it seemed to be more flags flying that there were refs, with a few minutes left in the half LCW quarterback would go down with a serious injury after a hard hit, certainly was an intense moment as he gave the thumbs up as he was being transported to the hospital.

Never want to see someone from any team get hurt seriously, great job to the Bison red players that were off duty firefighter’s that secured the situation until emt’s arrived. That would run the clock to halftime and both teams would take a few moments to regroup and adjust and get ready for the second half.

LCW would once again hit the end zone to go up 12-6, Bison would come right back and make tie the game once again 12-12, start of the 4th quarter LCW would again take the lead for the third time in the game 20-12 but mid fourth the Bison would find a way to tie it again 20-20 the game would come down to a field goal with under 20 seconds left, LCW would try to ice the kicker and the Bison would get a false start penalty to push them back and force them to re-kick, the ball would split the uprights to give the Bison the lead for the first time in the game 23-20 leaving very little time on the game clock.

On the kick-off LCW would run it back and pitch it for what looked like a break away run that would of scored but the Bison special teams forced LCW out of bounds with time for one more play, the Bison D would break up the pass and time would expire, and Bison would come out on top with a victory.

The Bison will take a few weeks off due to games that are forefits, and have clinched the #1 seed in the south and with only 3 teams in that conference they will face the winner of the Sharks vs Falcons in the conference championship at the end of the season.

#1 Birdgang (7-0-1) 44 vs #7 Leyden Lions (3-6) 0

Not much to say about this game, 44-0 did the Lions even show up. The Lions are off this week and after that game they probably could use a break. The Birdgang is off again as well as they get the forfeit win vs the Bucs 28-0. The Lions have one game remaining versus the Hurricanes and they will most likely lock up that #4 seed in the North and have to face their favorite opponent once again.

#5 River City Sharks (4-4) 14 vs #6 St Louis Falcons 6

Well, this was game # 2 for both these teams and the Sharks have the advantage in that aspect, with only 3 teams in the conference this will be a tossup, we know that these two teams will meet again in the first rd. of the playoff’s, The Sharks would have to win vs the Birdgang to have the same record and upon some crazy miracle that they would win they would for sure host the playoff game, I guess it is how much you believe in miracles I think at this point drawing straws to see who faces the Bison would be more exciting. The Falcons will have a forfeit in week 10 and that means and extra week off to rest and prepare to see if they can beat the Sharks when it counts.

That pretty much sums up last week’s games and this week’s preview’s so most of the teams will be off the rest of the season few will have at least one more game to play. On to the playoffs.

If the season ended today the playoff picture would be this.

Northern Conference

#1 Birdgang vs #4 Leyden Lions

#2 LCW vs #3 Michigan Hurricanes

Southern Conference

Indy Bison-RD 1 Bye

#2 Sharks vs #3 Falcons
